Business Launch Boot Camp Welcomes Woods Fuller Attorneys

Attorneys Share Knowledge and Expertise with Entrepreneurs

Several Woods Fuller attorneys had the honor of presenting at the Business Launch Boot Camp on May 15, 2014. The Boot Camp was part of the kickoff of the 2014 Accelerator program at the South Dakota Technology Business Center. Eight entrepreneurial teams were selected to be a part of the program in which they will attend monthly sessions to help them refine their business knowledge and skills. At the end of the program, the teams will have an opportunity to compete for funds made available through a FAST grant awarded by the Governor's Office of Economic Development.

The attorneys spoke to the attendees on a variety of areas from business entity formation to copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets and litigation. Jim Wiederrich led off the morning with a presentation on business entity formation. He provided the attendees with valuable advice on the various considerations regarding the proper choice of entity formation for their needs and goals. Blayne Hagen followed with a presentation on essential terms of contracts for consideration by all businesses, old and new.

After a brief break, Jeff Proehl presented on the topics of patents and trademarks. Carey Miller followed with a discussion on copyrights, trade secrets, and the importance of protecting the business' intellectual property assets. Sander Morehead capped off the session with a brief discussion of domain name disputes and the potential costs and considerations for intellectual property litigation, and other also business litigation.
